I am delighted to invite you to an afternoon Yoga workshop dedicated to mindfulness practice!

When:
  • Sunday, November 16th, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
About:
  • As the year draws to a close, it is a wonderful time to turn inward and embrace the present moment. At this time of year our bodies call for a more mindful, calm approach, rather than higher intensity energies in spring or summer.
  • We will explore the meaning of mindfulness, focusing on the physical aspect of yoga (asanas) and the mental aspect through breathwork. We will then discuss how to integrate and improve mindfulness in our daily life.
  • The afternoon will conclude with 30 minutes of guided mindful relaxation.
  • Light refreshments will be available.
  • Suitable for all (beginners and experienced practitioners).
Where:

Memorial Hall,  Glebe Rd, Purley on Thames, Reading RG8 8DP

Benefits of a mindfulness in yoga practice:
  •  Deeper Mind-Body Connection: You learn to listen to your body’s signals—such as the difference between discomfort (a stretch) and pain (a warning). This builds trust in your body and its limits.
  • Enhanced Stress and Anxiety Reduction: This practice directly calms the nervous system. The physical release from yoga poses (asanas) combined with the mental calm of mindfulness can significantly lower cortisol (the stress hormone).
  • Improved Balance and Stability (On and Off the Mat): Holding balancing poses requires intense, non-judgmental focus. Mindfulness is the tool that helps you stay present, which directly translates to better physical balance and a greater sense of emotional equilibrium in daily life.
  • Greater Emotional Regulation: Yoga can sometimes release stored tension or emotions. Mindfulness provides a safe, non-judgmental framework to simply observe these feelings as they arise and pass, helping you process them without being overwhelmed.
  • Increased Body Awareness and Self-Compassion: Instead of judging your body for what it can’t do, mindful yoga encourages you to be curious and kind about what it can do in the present moment. This can lead to a more positive self-image.
  • Reduced Risk of Injury: By paying close attention, you are less likely to push past your body’s limits, ensuring your practice is safer and more sustainable.
